Rosseti South identified the electricity theft for more than 347 million rubles in 2020

Specialists of Rosseti South in 2020 identified more than 2.2 thousand facts of electricity theft with a total volume of about 82 million kWh in 2020. Based on the drafted acts of illegal consumption, violators will have to reimburse the company for losses in the amount of more than 347 million rubles.
Over 80% of thefts are falling on unaccounted consumption of electrical energy. The largest amount of illegal consumption in the past year was noted in the Volgograd region (43.9%) and the Republic of Kalmykia (26%).
More than 10.1 million rubles have already been reimbursed for electricity consumption without concluding an agreement with Rosseti South. Another 67 acts of non-contractual consumption of 660.3 thousand kW * h in the amount of more than 2 million rubles are pending before the courts.
Total amount of stolen electricity decreased by 30% compared to 2019, which was made possible by the introduction of new metering technologies and digital equipment. Power engineers have acquired the most modern measuring devices that allow to identify both outright theft and any attempts to use electricity bypassing metering devices. Any electricity theft will eventually be identified and will cost the violator much more than legal consumption.
It should be noted that unauthorized interference in the operation of electricity connection schemes is fraught not only with criminal liability and monetary fines, but also with interruptions in the operation of the network, failure of household appliances and threat of electric shock.
