Rosseti South has installed over 17,000 bird protection devices

During the first nine months of 2025, Rosseti South specialists installed more than 17,000 bird protection devices on power lines in the regions of the company activities, which is seven times more than the same period last year. 20 million rubles were allocated for this purpose.

The largest number of bird protection devices were installed on power lines in Kalmykia (15.7 thousand) and Volgograd region (925). 397 bird protection devices were installed In the Astrakhan region, and 275 in the Rostov region. The sections of power lines for equipping with bird protection devices were determined based on the recommendations of ornithologists, taking into account the nesting sites of birds.

Modern bird protection devices are polymer casings made of high-tech dielectric materials. They cover the insulators where the wires are attached to them. Bird protection devices are designed to prevent wires from shorting when birds land on power transmission lines. The installation of these devices reduces the number of bird-related technical faults on power grids and improves reliability of power supply to customers.
